I'm always looking for resources that make it easier for people with special needs and/or disabilities to enjoy Walt Disney World. I was happy to find a new resource for people with food allergies and intolerances - AllergyEats Disney World (www.allergyeats.com/disney). This free website allows people to view and rate the allergy-friendliness of restaurants in and around Disney World, including the parks, hotels and surrounding areas.
This review site is different than others you may have used in the past - it only focuses on allergy-friendliness and doesn't rate other aspects of the restaurant experience (such as service, taste, ambiance, etc.) People with food allergies and intolerances - who may have been apprehensive about traveling to Disney and eating at unknown restaurants - can now use this site to see ratings and comments from other food-allergic guests, which can help them make more informed decisions about where to dine (and places to avoid) while at Disney. And they can quickly and easily rate their own Disney dining experiences as well, helping future food-allergic visitors.
The AllergyEats Disney World site is an offshoot of the popular AllergyEats site (
www.allergyeats.com), the most comprehensive online source for finding allergy-friendly restaurants nationwide. The main AllergyEats site features more than 600,000 restaurants nationwide that users can rate, as well as restaurants’ menus (including gluten-free menus), allergen lists, nutrition information, certifications, web links, directions and more.
AllergyEats Disney World was started by Paul Antico, the father of three food-allergic children. After having a number of frustrating experiences dining out with his family (some restaurants could accommodate his kids' allergies, others could not), he launched this site to make it easier for other food-allergic families to dine out. While Disney is known for being extremely accommodating to special needs guests, I'm sure that parents will find this free, user-friendly site to be helpful - and to make their visit to Disney World even more magical.
A Disneyland section is currently in the works, but you can find the restaurants listed under a search for Anaheim on their main site.
