Day Six, Saturday, May 22nd, Travel Day and More.
Cast: Pogo & Patti, Experienced WDW Travelers.
We slept in again today and got all the bags packed and down to Bell Services and we checked in for our flight at the resort. I love this service. Soon we were on our way to MK, arriving at around 9:30 to spend our final few hours with Mickey.
The crowd was huge at bag check with lines about thirty people deep and people rushing to get ahead of the next person. Hey everyone….. we are on vacation ! There is no need to run !
As we walked towards bag check I noticed a little girl standing in the middle of the crowd crying and acting very scared. I told Patti she must have gotten separated from her family. I went to her and asked her if her Mommy and Daddy got lost and she said yes, so I told her she was going to all right and we would find them for her. We took her by the hand and found a Cast Member who called security and the cast member was asking her questions, like her name, what was her mother wearing, what color hair did her mother have, so on and so forth.
I scanned the crowd and saw a woman looking very frantic coming down from the monorail and I yelled out to her, “over here”, several time before she saw me. She came running and a very tearful reunion was held…. Both crying and hugging each other. The little girls’ father thanked us and we were on our way.
The walk down Main Street is one of our favorite times of our lives, but today’s was bittersweet because it was our last day at WDW.
We had our picture taken for our photo pass in front of the Castle and then we stopped by the Christmas Shop for you guessed it, more shopping. We rode Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates, Jungle Cruise, and TTA.
We decided to pick up a gift for our neighbor’s daughter and while we were in the Emporium, the band was playing on Main Street right in front of the store, so we made the purchase and went out for the show. We ended our stay at MK when the band fell into formation and started playing the Mickey Mouse Club March and started down Main Street towards the front of the park. Patti said to me, “what a great ending to a wonderful trip” and I couldn’t agree more as we followed them to the front of the Magic Kingdom. We stopped for one more look at the Castle (sigh) and then left.
We headed back to POFQ for a late lunch and our 3:40 PM ME pickup. ME was on time and we were at the airport, through the security checkpoint and had plenty of time before boarding our aircraft for Atlanta where we changed planes for one headed to the North Coast.
The flight home on Delta was uneventful and we landed at Rochester at around midnight and found our car and made the less than ten minute drive home. We were greeted by our neighbor who was having a little party and spoke with him about our trip before we headed to bed at around 1:15…. Tired but glad to be in our own bed dreaming about our next trip to Mickey’s house. Could it be in January ? We’ll see.
