The article is calling this a pet resort, so I'm filing it under Disney resorts, but mods, feel free to move if you think it fits better elsewhere.

Luxury Resort for Pets Opens Bookings at Disney World

Fran Golden for AOL Travel

The latest luxury resort opening at Walt Disney World in Florida has fancy suites and a water park, but is not for humans.

Pet lovers visiting Disney World can board their furry friends at Best Friends Pet Care Resort, beginning Aug. 27 (reservations just opened).

Best Friends has more than 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space including covered outdoor runs and play areas. A private dog park, that owners can visit with their pets, has a fenced walking trail bordering natural wetlands, separate areas with artificial turf and shade trees and a "canines only" water park.

The pet resort can accommodate up to 270 dogs and 30 cats for both daytime play and overnight boarding, and will accept small furry creatures like hamsters as well.

The facility offers a variety of accommodations including, for the very top tier of canine visitors, four expansive VIP suites with TVs, raised bedding and private outdoor yards. Feline guests stay in the separate "Kitty City" pavilion, in two- and four-room condos.

Pet "parents" can choose from a range of a la carte add-ons including one-on-one playtime, social playgroups, cuddle time and bedtime stories, edible treats, bottled water or special premium/orthopedic bedding. There's a grooming salon for haircuts and baths too.

"Our goal is to ensure that pets staying with us have a fun, action-packed vacation – just like their families vacationing at Walt Disney World."said Dennis Dolan, president and CEO of Best Friends Pet Care, which operates facilities in 18 states.

The Best Friends Pet Care Resort is located across from Disney's Port Orleans Resort.

Do you think Koda will get to vacation here?

Koda has her own Wilderness Lodge.  I wonder if they make you come visit your pet every day. When I checked out the kennels I would of had to go 3x's a day to walk my pup. I didn't see that as a vacation for either of us b/c I'm sure she would have been upset everytime I left. Sounds wonderful though...

Beth, I'm pretty sure that you don't have to walk your dog at this one although I'm sure you could if you wanted to do so.

Do you know I checked out the old kennels and with small dogs you had to go 3 times a day to walk them yourself? Chloe would go on hunger strike when we would leave her and I considered it but no w/ 3 pups (she has company now). I couldn't imagine leaving the park 3 times a day/ with transportation and time to walk that would take a good 6-8 hours out of your day.

I wonder if they walk them for you for a fee? What we do it give our pups comfort when we are gone is to sleep w/ doggie blankets so they have our scent (yes we send the blankets w/ them). Lately we have had no problems leaving them. This sounds like a fun idea, wonder how much it cost to board your pup?
