Day Two 2010
We are up as we arrive at Castaway Cay. We eat breakfast at Parrot Cay and have the buffet. Good food as always- ham and cheese omelet among other great things. We head back to the room as we get ready to hit the island. At about 8:45 we are on the island and we go to snorkel first thing. We find a spot at the family beach and get our gear and a vest and head out. Everyone has to wear a vest as you snorkel. It does not have to be inflated but it does have to be worn at all times. We head out. After one false start we are on our way. I am not the world’s greatest swimmer so that can be a problem. We are now on the way and see some fish. We swim right into a very large school of fish. There were fish everywhere. I had set a goal to get to and I got there and then got over confident. I went out further and one thing to remember is which way the wind is blowing. We had an offshore and cross wind. So when we started back in it was a lot harder to swim and make way. Now you are tired and have to work harder to get back. Good thing I inflated my vest because I could rest when I wanted to. After some work we both made it back to shore and got to see some sights. We went and rested on the beach for a while and Sherrie got in a 10 minute nap. We were getting hungry and went to hop the tram to the other side of the island so we could eat at Serenity Bay at the adult side of the island. After a short ride we were at our destination. I had sirloin, chicken, a cheese burger, fruit, banana bread and some chocolate chip cookies. Sherrie had the Greek salad, fresh fruit, grilled sirloin, pineapple upside down cake, and mango soft serve ice cream. After lunch we made our way to the beach and walked out a ways. One thing to make note of is you might want to use water shoes here as the beach is not all sand bottom. They have coral and large snails and holes with some rocks. We heard a couple say they found a starfish so we made our way over to them and that starfish had to be at least a foot and a half across. We made our way out a little ways further and saw some fish and other creatures. So we were on our way back to the other side of the island and stopped at the shop where Sherrie found a shirt for me on sale and bought it. We then headed back to the ship and went to the pool and hot tub but not before stopping and asking what we get with our DCL cup we bought on day 1. The bartender said we get the drink of the day for $3.95 it was $4.54 with tip already on the bill. Sherrie and I split the drink and it was a lot for both of us. So after the dip in the hot tub we went back to the room for showers and I tried to crash. Sherrie had worn me out. Too much to do, too much sun, too much walking, too much water….. Yes Sherrie had worn me out. I tried to sneak in a nap but as she was moving around the room making noise she kept waking me up. So I got like 3 minutes and 5 minutes here and there. Before long it was time for dinner so we got dressed for that and were on our way. Tonight we eat at Animators Pallete. We only have 4 of us tonight since two folks are eating at Palo. Sherrie orders the veal shank as I asked for the kids menu since they had nothing I liked here. I got Mickey’s Marconi and Cheese and a baked potato. I enjoyed my meal as did everyone else. For dessert I ordered the no sugar added lemon souffle and was surprised by my wife with a birthday cake. So we split that 4 ways so everyone could get a taste.
After dinner we got to see a new show Disney’s Once Upon a Song. It was 5 members of the show’s cast singing songs from different Disney movies. I believe this was their first night performing this show on board. We went up on deck and had some pizza but I was done for the night. As I said before Sherrie has worn me out today. I am down for the count after all we got done today. I am off to bed and am hurrying Sherrie to turn out the lights. Night all…….
