The recovery trip day 4 cruise  (United States) Modified By CaptTigger on 6/15/2010 5:29:50 PM

The Recovery Trip

Who: Mrs.CaptTigger, planner and boss…..

Capttigger, me, guy who drives the truck and listens to the Mrs. (hey I know what is good for me)

Day 4

Sea day

We are at sea all day today…..

Sherrie is up before me today and goes outside to get some pictures of the sunrise. Soon I am up and we are off to eat breakfast. Sherrie has the day all planed out already. After breakfast we are off to Diversions to the Captain’s Corner. This is where you get to meet and talk to the Captain, Cruise Director, Hotel Director, and the Chief Engineer. So we get a good spot right up front and they come in and sit down. We are missing one person and it is the Chief Engineer. We later find out that he is working on the air condition for Beach Blanket and Palo. Folks get to ask them questions and they do their best to answer. We learned that they have 4 licensed Captains on the ship. Captain Gus, Captain Mickey, Captain Jack and Captain Hook…….. No really they have 4 real licensed Captains at all times on the Disney Wonder. So if anything happens to Captain Gus they have 3 fill-ins to replace him. They discussed how they recruit from other countries to get their workers as well as the United States. Each one explained how they worked their way up the ladder and where they plan to go from here.

After that Sherrie went to the future cruise desk to see if we could save anything on our future cruise booked for next year. No we got the best deal we could have and got and a better deal than they could do on the cruise. While we were there Peter Pan passed by, then Captain Hook passed. A little while later Cinderella stopped by and I got some good pictures of her.

Next on Sherrie’s agenda was to go see Don “Ducky” Williams. He was doing a talk about how he got his job with the Disney company. It is a great story and if you ever get the time to sit and listen to him do it…. The whole time he talked he drew pictures and at the end of the talk they pulled numbers and gave them away. (you can see pictures of them  in today’s photos) After that it was lunch time so we headed to Parrot Cay. After this I have had enough….. Yes I tried to get a nap in on the first day and Sherrie would not let me. Then I tried to get one in while Sherrie went to go see a movie and that did not happen. So now I am worn out……. I am going to go take a nap…. Sherrie on the other hand is going to go on the Galley tour. So we split up and she heads down to the tour and I head up to the room. The tour brought you into one of the kitchen areas that serves Tritons and Parrot Cay. Sherrie said everything was made of stainless steel including the ceiling and everything was spotless. After the tour Sherrie came and woke me up for more fun…. We wondered around the ship and stopped at Cove Café and enjoyed the view. We made our way to deck 7 aft to check out the deck in the rear. We are only running on one engine today. This was a very nice view to see where you have been. All we could see was water and a few other ships in the distance. After that we made our way to deck 4 and played some shuffle board…. Well we kind of played. We were not too sure of the rules but Sherrie beat me….. It was now about time to get ready for dinner so back to the room to get ready.

Tonight was a night I was looking forward to. Tonight is Parrot Cay dinner and I already know what I want. I want the mixed grill which has a steak, bacon wrapped sausage, 2 shrimp, and a lamp chop. I got it without the sauce, Sherrie got it with the sauce. I got the sampler for dessert and Sherrie got some kind of cake with ice cream.

After dinner we skipped the Toy Story Show. (thank you Sherrie) and we went to the theatre to see Disney’s Nature-Oceans. After that we went and had a drink and wings at Diversions and played a game of checkers. I won but it was a long, hard game and I think Sherrie was getting tired. So we headed back to the room to rest up for Castaway Cay the next day.

Sounds absolutely splendid! A nap AND the talk and drawings by Don Williams, couldn't ask for any better than that! Thanks so much for sharing!

Why do they have so many captains? I can see one extra but all those? Did something happen some time? Also, are the life boats covered? They looked like they might have been in the pics. This sounds like a very interesting day.

They only have one captain but they have 3 other workers that hold a captain license........

The life boats are covered. I think it is to keep the sun off of the folks if they are ever needed.
