When you can't post.   (United States)

Yesterday I could not post on any threads.... and it was in firefox but worked in IE.  My the electricity blinked while I was posting and when I restarted the editing box did not have definition or a cursor.

I cleared my browser history and it solved the problem.....

HOw many chips? I know they have upgrades for this software and add-ons. My only concern with a new program is losing the posts.... I"ve been swimming as fast as I can at the moment so time to research this has been limited. Jym do you know a lot about it?

Re: When you can't post.   (United States)

I don't mind if we lose post counts.

vBulletin is $180.00 for an Owned License - The owned vBulletin Forum license allows you to run the software on your site indefinitely. Along with this license, you will receive one year of free updates. Beyond the first year, a nominal fee of $60 (or $40 if purchased within 60 days of the license expiring) is payable to obtain updates for an additional year.

vBulletin (Leased License)
The leased vBulletin Forum license allows you to use the software on your site for 1 year and gives you access to products updates for that year. After 1 year, you must renew your license or remove the software from your site

Re: When you can't post.   (United States)

The reason we do not want to lose posts means a lot more to us than most realize. When the number of posts increase so does the Google hits. So, if someone had a question about traveling with disablities and they google the question our site will come up.

I am happy to say that we are beginning to show at the top of some of the google searches! The more hits, the more members. That is really important this early in the game.

Beth and I are looking into upgrading but we are trying to do it so we will not lose the posts. It is not just about having an impressive number of posts next to your name. Although I am very impressed with the amout on posts some of our members have!!

We want to get this going but it is going to take a little time. We are only 1 year old! Who would have thought that after just 1 year we would be looking to upgrade?

We will keep you posted on what we decide to do. We are hoping to get these sponsors on board VERY soon. We are working out a few minor details and getting contracts signed. We just need a little cash flow coming in.

It's just a little more user friendly - more easily customizable and works better with popular browsers..  I don't think there's a way to import posts from DotNetNuke to vBulletin.  They'd have to be done by hand to keep the old threads.

Re: When you can't post.   (United States)

This seemed the place to ask this question instead of creating a new thread...

Does Mouse-aid log you off after a while if you haven't posted? I'll be working and when I get a spare moment to look at the site and see something I want to comment on, or give an answer to the games I notice that I can't post anything cause I'm not logged in. Is there a way to shut this off? I work in a call center so most of the day I'm on the phone and can usually only put a couple words to respond really quick, but it stinks if I have to log in each time...by then I get a call and can't remember where I was or what I wanted to say.

Re: When you can't post.   (United States)

Unfortunately, yes this is the case.  After a while of inactivity (Beth might know exactly how long, I'm not sure) but yes, it will log you out and you will have to re-login to post.  No, there is nothing that keeps you logged in, even if you click the box when you log in.

On a similar but different note, I encounter a different problem that once I time out and the boards log me out, I click "Login" and proceed to enter my information, I'm brought to the main forums page, still logged out.  Seems it holds onto "something" and I am not able to log back in until I shut my browser down and restart it.  Restarting the browser tends to clear the "something" up and I'm able to log in after that.  Frustrating!

Re: When you can't post.   (United States)

I just talked to Rhett about that last night. I have to figure out what add on we need to purchase to keep you logged on. He said "does that really matter to ppl" I will let him know it does...

I do use one trick when it logs me out sometimes I hit the back button and it pops me back in, I think it only works if it accidently pops you out but it is helpful. I will go pester Rhett about making those changes...

Re: When you can't post.   (United States)

I've also noticed that when I get an email from one of the threads I'm watching, I click the link and it takes me to the thread. But I'm not logged in. I log in and then it takes me to the main forum page. But if no one else is having an issue with these things then it's really not worth it to change them just for me. I will learn to deal, and maybe it will make me pay more attention

Re: When you can't post.   (United States)

Ah ha!  I have an easy "fix" for that one!  I've experienced the same problem.

Basically, go ahead and login like you would.  When it brings you back the forum home page, go to you browser's back button and go back to where it dropped you on the original thread.  Yes it will look like you're not logged in.  Hit refresh and POOF! You're logged in and can post. :-)
