Hey guys,
Have any of you had any experience with oxygen tanks in Disney? I have a friend that is thinking about going but is worried about traveling with the tanks and wants to know if there is a medical supply in Disney that can help change out tanks.
Thanks!!
I put my two cents in
Is your friend driving? I know the FAA has a lot of very strict limitations on oxygen on airplanes, so if your friend is flying they would need to check that out.
As far as medical supply companies, I know I researched this once awhile back, and I know there are some, I just don't have any of the details any more (I'm sure I googled it though). I know there are several companies that rent the oxygen machines as well if that is an option. It might be less trouble. I don't recall ever hearing of Disney having any restrictions as far as oxygen tanks go, but I recently read that Universal Studios does because of special effects and the danger of the oxygen igniting.
They were unable to find any restrictions in Disney so that is a good thing. They are leary about just picking someone that they have never heard of. I was hoping one of our members might know.... This is a good thing, we might be falling apart but we can breathe!
I wonder if Beuna Vista Scooter could help... I might call them since they are renting a scooter from them anyway.
You know they rent more than scooters... I was shocked to find the rent the lift chairs and bring them to your resort. They may be able to help you. I've looked before but I forgot what I learned....

I can't remember the policies for Disney but I know that at Universal, none of the attractions allow oxygen tanks on them (it's air under pressure so if it were jostled too much from a ride....BOOM).
I know first aid has places to store like diabetic stuff, medicines and what not. They might have a place to store spare oxygen tanks, and possibly change them out if needed.
For two of Hayden's trips we took oxygen tanks. We had no problems at Disney with them. If you need to store an extra one you can go to First Aid. Any of the rides he wanted to ride if they allowed the wheelchair there was not problem with the tank. We drove both times so I don't know what the restrictions are for an airplane, but they have to allow them. I can't see them turning down people just because they have to use oxygen. i would suggest calling the airline and finding out what the regulations are.
Universal on the other hand...we couldn't do anything either with the oxygen or with his wheelchair, but that is another story...
