Wondering some experiences with renting both on property and maybe with our sponsor.
I have done both and found that Buena Vista was so convenient as the scooter was delivered right to the resort.
We borrowed a wheelchair from Carribean Beach when we were there with my mother in law. It made it easy as we always had it available but transporting it to the parks was a little tricky.
Anyone have any experience/advice to share?
What a great topic Sarah, We have used Buena Vista Scooter (BVS) and it is great b/c they have a location right on the boardwalk. We used another company once in 07 and had problems w/ it charging and we had to talk to a technician who was on an 800 #... we literally spent a couple hours working to get the scooter going. It happened right by the place where BVS is located today. Years ago when we only new of the Disney rentals it was often difficult b/c they ran out so early so my dad would get up to get in line just to get a scooter. The w/c was so difficult to push up some of those inclines.
Another problem we had w/ the w/c is they don't always have the larger size, some of them were pretty small and my dad who weighed btwn 240- 275 could not fit in the complimentary chairs at the resorts, they would try to find him a larger one but it was difficult b/c he couldn't walk far and transportation was not easy.
We'll be getting a BVS scooter for my mom this Decemeber... it's easier to try to keep up w/ her than her trying to keep up with us. She will be 79 this fall (and we tend to walk fast ).

I have also tried a couple of scooter rentals and find that cheaper does not mean better!
I saved $5 a day to rent from another company and received just what I paid for... a scooter that was falling apart (we had to keep lifting a piece off the back wheel so it would not rub) and one the moved without touching the controls. The lady that was run over by the scooter even after I jumped off was not happy.
My first experience with Buena Vista Scooters was 2 years ago and I don't think I will ever use anyone else. They are cheaper than the parks and the scooters are in great shape. The hold a charge all day - and for us that means 12-14 hours. And IF you have a problem they come to you! Since they have a location on Disney property there is no problem getting to you no matter where you are.
I find it much easier to rent a scooter than to use a wheelchair because I can no longer do the things my family can do. This means that they can run off to the rides while I do some shopping, sight seeing or just take in some of the Disney Magic with out them having to worry about me. So if nothing else, a scooter means that we all have a great vacation!
I put my two cents in
